The siteThe chateau is perched awesomely on a rock, from where it dominates the Truyère and overlooks the village made from schist, with its bread oven, chestnut drier, threshing floor and charming slab-roofed houses.
The chateau de Valon has dominated the Truyère Gorges since the 12th century. Ancient trees worthy of the finest illuminations; the chapel symbol of silence and peace; the keep seen at its best from the inner courtyard.
The chateau has three fine halls one above the other. An amazing staircase that has survived the centuries undamaged gives you access to the terrace. The view over the Truyère Gorges is stunning.
